Weekend round up!
Saturday turned in to a good soaring day after a concerted working bee with loads of club activity going on.
Considerable work was completed on the flight office and the clubrooms.
Alan Walls worked on replacing rotten wood and Neil Walker installed straps on the clubrooms while team 2 Mike Marra, Graham Johnson, Derek, Dave Tillman and others worked on the new decking on the Flight office. Kevin mowed around the house and camping site.
Jenny was the instructor for the day and completed 7 instructional flights while Rangi completed 2, including introducing Hugo (the new resident instructor) to our mountains. Thanks to Nigel and Reatha for the fantastic introduction to Canterbury Hugo has received!
Peter Chadwick completed 16 tows for a long day in the cockpit.
There was some great soaring in the mountains with Convergence, ridge, wave and thermals up to 9500ft once established west of Springfield.
Terry(RX), Derek (DK), Mark(UP), Jerry(PY), John (JK), Kevin (CC), Neil (YH) and Graham (CV) flew into the mountains including the Puketerakis, Craigieburns, Torlesse, Benmores and some on to Mt Hutt.
PR was rigged and Edwin did a instructional flight also with a new student on a 6 flight scheme.
Thanks to Matt Parlane for being duty pilot, Jenny for Her long day instructing and to Pete for towing (many long tows to the Benmores or the Torlesse range).
Sunday was a day with windy changeable weather. John flew with Scott Parlane in PR towing into turbulent air, before spending a hour in smooth wave to 9500ft and Dr Dave Palmer took a friend in OR for a flight.
Thanks to Max for his 2 tows in turbulent conditions and to Matt and Scott Parlane for their help.
Rain and strong wind curtailed flying for the rest of the day.
