Weekend Report and Labour Weekend
Good evening.
It was a great weekend with plenty of good soaring.
A few pilots flew Thursday with 7 flights completed. Graham E (QT), Hugo (CC), John (JK) Kevin (CC) Greg /Rangi (PB) Tim Hughes/Hugo (PB) and Nigel (PR).
Thanks to John McCallister and Don McCaw for towing.
Saturday was a busy day with 17 tows completed. The day dawned with a beautiful arch but changed to the odd shower passing by.
There was nice bit of wave or convergence over the new Springfield dam which made it a easy tow to get soaring.Pete Chadwick and John McCaw soared in to wave over Lake Rubicon to 9500ft while others soared ridge and Convergence.
Hugo and Rangi shared CC for a hour or two each. Graham and Jenny clocked up a few hours on QT. Jono Wardman got himself current with Jenny in PB. Derek, Mark and Terry flew their gliders.
Abbey and Jimmi shared a flight in PB while Hugo took Brent Schroeder for hour and a half in PR in the lee of Mt Torlesse.
Peter Taylor took a friend for a flight after taking Sandy for a lesson.
Thanks to John Goddard for his very efficient towing and Rangi for being duty pilot, and Jenny for Instructing and overseeing the day.
Sunday looked promising but the air turned a little stable for a bit. Eventually the air produced some thermals, ridge and wave.
There was 15 flights with the tow plane and one self launch (Mark).
Hugo was keen to instruct and completed 6 flights, with Ben Carlyle (3), Wayne( 2) and Brent Schroeder(1). John McCaw took one trial flight (Joel Innes from Springfield) in OR.
Grant (TC), Derek (DK), Terry(RX), Graham (QT) Rob Campbell (IU), and Mark (UP) all had good soaring flights in broken wave, ridge and thermals. Derek made it to nearly Lake Brunner.
David Palmer took a friend for a ride in OR and John McCallister took Lemmy for a hour in PB.
John Hudson is getting to grips with CC by soaring for over 60 minutes and completing a perfect landing.
Thanks to Chief Tow Pilot Peter for his 15 tows and to Tim Hughes for filling in for the duty pilot.

We are hoping to have crew at Springfield for Labour Weekend (just waiting to confirm tow pilots)
Please come out for the long Weekend. Quite a few are keen to camp there and maybe have dinner out at the Sheffield Pub on Saturday night.
I would be keen to get numbers if you are interested in staying, and heading to the Pub for dinner. (please send John an e-mail)
