Weekend Roundup July 29-30

*Report by John McCaw*

Good Evening,
A lovely weekend with plenty of sunshine, and lots of Club activity.
Rob Campbell looked after the instructing on Saturday with Rob Meili towing.
A total of 16 flights, with our students ticking off, plenty of  topics in their gliding training syllabus.
Greg and Wal led some much needed driveway maintenance, and some on field work with a good crew helping.
Rod, Beni, Fabian, Greg and Cristina all had solo flights in the twins.
Luca (a new member  and tow pilot trainee) had flight with Rob.
Wal had a longer flight in CV with a little soaring.

Sunday was a beautiful day after a light frost.
John looked after the instructing, completing a trial flight with a lovely young lady who had a lot of natural talent.
7 flights were completed with Andrew Whiteside and Dana progressing along nicely with near to perfect conditions.
Mark and Jerry had pleasant flight in MS, once the wind picked up on the ridges, checking out the ski fields and finding some wave overhead Cass.
Kev had a nice flight in CV on to the Benmores and Torlesse ridges.
John and Luca soared on the Benmores for a  little over an hour in gentle NW ridge lift in OR.
Thanks
to Peter for towing on Sunday and to Carl Shrimpton for a wonderful job as duty pilot.
A big thanks to Rob Meili who is leaving Christchurch to travel to Queenstown, to pursue a new venture.
It’s been great to have you around Rob, and everyone wishes you all the best, and we hope to see you back.
