Weekend
Good evening,
Unfortunately the weather was rubbish today and there was no flying.
Last Saturday it was rather cool, so a group of club members installed a weather station on the upper Springfield ridge.
It is now operational and has given some interesting readings.
The Crew included Rangi, Mike Oakley,Nicholas Oakley,Neil Alison,Campbell Hall, John McCaw and Paul. (Pics attatched)
Thanks to Reece and Annavale Station for the access to the property.
Paul had some nervous moments with Mike attempting to climb a ridge and heading backwards in the “Exploder”.
Simon Beech and Kev worked away on the gibb in the Clubrooms.
Sunday turned in to a great soaring day with a good NW wind aloft and nice wave (a little rough down low)
Ben Carlyle had nice flight with Wal in OR.
Chris Terry took 2 trial flights with PR into wave, while Wal flew with Tim Hughes for one hour and half in OR to complete his QGP (congratulations Tim)
Rangi took friend Andy for a nice flight in wave in PB before passing it on to Paul and Lee (who experienced decent wave for the first time before heading home this week)
It was nice to have John Robinson flying the yellow Pik. Private owners Grant, John, Graham E all had nice wave flights covering quite a lot of ground.
Graham met up with Jono at the Taylor range who had travelled up from Omarama in RZ. John tested out the new airspace (Coleridge climbing to 12500ft)
Terry took Peter Taylor (or was it Peter taking Terry) for a practice 300km, SF to Shale Peak, Mt Winterburn and return.
Greg Tucker flew CC for a nice wave flight later in the day while Chris flew with Simon Beech and Sandy in PR.
Wal flew with Rob Kerr for 2 flights.
Everyone had good soaring flights, and thanks to Wal and Chris for instructing, and to Sandy and others who filled in the duty pilot slot.
A splendid effort by Colin for completing 15 tows, over a long day.
Last Tuesday Paul Marriott and Lee Allinson came across a burning house at Annatt and assisted with the garden hose before the fire service arrived (well done guys)
Photos from Sunday from John.
